Shit happened to Ferguson is happening in Hong Kong right now!

Students were just protesting peacefully for genuine democracy around Admiralty and Central, yet the police forced used pepper spray, tear gas and violence to disperse the crowd. According to the protesters, the police even raided a first aid booth with pepper spray.

The question I’m asked most often as a defense attorney is whether I can tell if my clients are innocent or guilty.

I don’t care.

Author John Scalzi was on a roll this morning (currently 7:14 AM, 26 Sept. 2014) with a tweet he found from some guy sending out an “ultimatum” to women to “make a choice” between feminism and, well, men like him. So Scalzi launched into a truly magnificent set of scorchers, which I’m posting here for the delectation of people everywhere.

Also: I would like to thank that guy for setting the ultimatum. It makes finding a boyfriend so much easier when the undesirable ones wear a placard identifying themselves.

"The tragedy of that poor boy’s life is not the realization that he’s not the grand prize he’s assumed, but that he’s not even second place."

How about some love for a good police officer?

Officer Gaetano Acerra

Responded to a call where a 13 year old boy didnt want to live in his home anymore. He found out that the family couldnt afford a bed or much else for the teen.

So he bought him one. A big queen sized one.

He also bought him a Tv and someone donated a Wii, so now they play whenever Officer Gaetano Acerra has a chance

He also plans to get him a dresser, mirror, and a hamper. Among other things he needs but cannot afford.

People. They’re not ALWAYS a bunch of bastards.

The corruption needs to go.
This guy can stay.

Mass produce this guy. There needs to be more of him

Not all police..

I once was chased by five guys on bikes threatening me with knives, I flagged down an officer who, having not seen the boys at all, escorted me back to my house where the boys were waiting down the street. He waited until I entered my home safely before he left to go and disperse the boys down the street who fled the moment they saw the officer. There are good cops out there, guys. I know there are a lot of stories coming out lately discussing great examples of officers abusing their power and I don’t want to take away from those stories, they are important and worthy of people knowing about. But I would like to make it known that there are cops out there who choose their career because they genuinely wish to help and better the communities in which they serve. Let us applaud those who willingly sacrifice their safety for us and give selflessly to those in need. It is through THEIR compassion that we might be able to restore the trust that’s been lost. Let this officer be an example and a beacon of hope that change is possible.
